Highly regarded Coastal Viticulture Consultants, well known as CVC throughout the North Coast, has been helping premium winegrape growers for decades by continually improving their knowledge, products and services. One of their highly valued services is the detection of Grape Powdery Mildew spores in vineyards BEFORE an infection occurs. This is accomplished by maintaining a network of spore traps throughout the grape growing regions of Northern California. Samples are collected weekly or twice a week by CVC's trained staff. Quantified spore count reports are provided to growers and alerts sent when powdery mildew spores are present.
Bryan Rahn, founder of CVC, wanted to further enhance the service by enabling growers to view and analyze spore count data throughout their growing region. To accomplish this, he called on neatMon to customize the cloud based Hub platform to collect and store data from hundreds of traps and display it in a number of specialized graphs. This formed the basis of the CVC Ag app. CVC's Grape Powdery Mildew Network now provides growers with the information needed to improve their spray program's efficiency and effectiveness. It enables them to direct scouting and spraying teams where they are needed first.
"Daniel has been great to work with. He took the time to really understand what we needed. Then he and his team built the CVC Ag app for us. NeatMon is an important partner for us and I know I can count on them." Bryan now plans to expand the app by incorporating additional sensors and data like leaf temperature, plant water stress, soil moisture, and soil profile data. The custom additions to the neatMon HUB software, comprising the core of the CVCAg app, are the Intellectual Property of CVC and incorporate their proprietary methods and measurements for the growing of wine grapes.
